What is FreeNameExchange.com?

FreeNameExchange.com is the first marketplace where domain owners can buy and sell their domains for free. FreeNameExchange.com now also includes HotNames.tv and HotNames.mobi. Any domain owner can visit any of those sites, sign up for an account, list their domain, and sell their domain to a buyer that contacts them through the site without ever being asked for a payment. This also applies to domains listed as available for lease and/or development.

Every .tv domain name will be displayed on FreeNameExchange.com and HotNames.tv and every .mobi domain name will be displayed on FreeNameExchange.com and HotNames.mobi.

What’s the catch?

There is no catch. Every FNE account is free. Every domain listing is free. When a seller’s domain is sold/leased/developed as the result of a free domain listing on FNE, there are no transaction fees for either party. The parties to every transaction negotiate and finalize their transaction directly with each other without involvement from FNE. This makes FNE a great place to list and find domains available for sale/lease/development.

How does FNE pay the bills then?

For the domain owners looking for help to sell, lease, or develop their domains more successfully, FNE offers premium features that are affordable and never expire until the domain is sold, leased, or developed. The premium features include Home Page Featured Listings, Spotlight Featured Listings, Bolded Listings, and Highlighted Listings.

Why provide a service for free when you can make huge sums of money by collecting high listing and transaction fees?

I enjoy buying and selling domains as a hobby, but disliked paying a sizeable chunk of my hard earned money to big corporations that ran websites that simply connected seller and buyer. I decided to spend the money from a recent domain sale to build a website to connect buyers and sellers without cost to them!

My goal was to provide a service that offers value to the community of domain owners that welcomed me with open arms when I knew nothing about buying and selling domain names. I met a lot of people I would not have otherwise met had I not become part of that community. I felt this was one way I could give back and a number of my mentors told me it was a fantastic idea, so I gave it a shot.
